I just finished watching the premier of “The Secret Millionaire” on Fox. Wow. It was amazing to see what difference you can make as a successful entrepreneur.

This is what their intro says about the show: Some of the wealthiest people in america will leave behind their posessions and identies and live in the poorest neighborhood on welfare wages amonst the poor. Their mission to find those in need. To give at least $100k of their own money and reveal their true identity.

Gregory Ruzicka, successful lawyer, principal partner in a real estate brokerage, and multi-millionaire along with his son- Cole Ruzicka spend one week living in a rent per-day apartment living on less than $105/ week. The story that touched me most from this first episode was the one of Emily’s family. Emily is a young girl with cancer. Greg and Cory found about her through a jar at a covenient store. Her parents worked at small businesses that didn’t offer insurance. When they found out she had cancer and had to go through chemotherapy it affected them greatly. The medical bills kept piling up and they can’t seem to get ahead. At the end of the episode, Gregand Cole decided to give them $50,000. Dan, Emily’s father said. “ I feel like I’m in a forest. Just hacking away trying to survive. I have to be strong for everyone. And this right here is going to help a lot. You don’t know how much it will help.” Through the episode you see Greg and especially Cole change their mentality from thinking that poor people are just ignorant and uneducated to realizing that sometimes life just hits you blow after blow that you can’t get out. As the episode closes Gregory says, “I have faith in humanity again. I can’t ignore what I saw. I want to make a difference."
