Do you stop dreaming, acting, and doing your best?

I’m in the middle of finishing a month of transition into a new living space, new town, and new life. My husband is now a Varsity Coach at Odessa High School in Odessa, TX and I’m a proud, supporting Coach’s Wife. We lived in Austin, TX for one year while he was a part of the Lake Travis staff who won the Class 4A Division II State Championship last year. During the past year in Austin, I adapted to becoming a new mom when my daughter was born last year, I realized that life was more than a career and a step ladder, let go of several of my marketing clients and transitioned my interest into real estate investing. I made many great friends and let go of many of the ideas of what “wealthy” people were like. While living in Lakeway, TX, NW of Austin, and surrounded by the lake, seeing BMW’s, Lexus, Porsches, Cadillacs, and many other luxurious vehicles pass me by through the streets surrounded by multi-million dollar homes was a way of life. There was a sense of security, pride, and standard of excellence in the air that only propelled me to be a better person in every aspect of my life. I had once read that wealthy people were the friendliest people on earth and I experienced that first hand from many of the members that I got to know at The Lakeway Church. They were giving, non-judgemental, loving, and cared for everyone they knew from their own families to the homeless in Austin. For one year, I lived in more ways than one what my whole life is meant to be like. A life of abundance, health, friendships, God, family, and giving.

Now a fresh new resident of Odessa, TX (only days old since Sunday), I’m still exploring what this town will teach me. Frankly, I’m surrounded by boxes and unpacking chores that I haven’t really had time to think about it but will soon. I still haven’t stopped dreaming of where my life is headed. Only last Wednesday was I interviewing Sally Brown, wife of Head Football Coach Mack Brown for the UT-Longhorns and veteran real estate investor for my “Football Special” podcast airing Tuesday, September 2, 2008. Thursday I was hanging out with good friends- Carolyn Allen, author of The Coach’s Wife and LaNier Turner Frazier, author of Football Wives Who Win at the Mack Brown Women’s Football Clinic. And Saturday I was learning how to buy properties using the investing strategy “Subject-To” at the NoMoneyNoCredit.net- Austin Bus Tour with veteran real estate investors Isaac Spencer, Don Schwieters and 50 other investors. In the midst of packing, moving, and now unpacking, I still haven’t stopped making my dreams happen. God has been good to provide all the right opportunities and open all the right doors to walk through. Doing my best? Finish Strong. That’s my new motto. I think I finished strong my year in Austin, TX. My new address is now in Odessa, TX but my home is the internet. With a good strong wireless connection, friends all over the state, and real estate to be bought and sold, The Real Estate Newbie continues her journey in learning real estate investing. Hello Odessa, TX we haven’t met yet but we will get to know each other very soon.
